This datatype is used to select the level of mesh checking required.
It has three values:

    PK_check_mesh_no_c              don't do mesh validity checks
    PK_check_mesh_basic_c           check for corrupt or non-manifold meshes,
                                    degenerate or flat mfacets and bad
                                    mvertex normals
    PK_check_mesh_yes_c             check for self-intersections and slits
                                    in addition to basic checks
